Mangosteens (Garcinia mangostana) are not easy to find in fruit markets outside of Southeast Asia. The origins of the tree are thought to be in the Molucca or Spice islands of Indonesia or Malaysia. A beautiful fruit, the outer layer, or pericarp, is either reddish or dark purple and the fruit flesh is white, delicious, with a sweet and slightly tart taste.
We have chosen mangosteen as a signature ingredient of the NiQui Asia fruit smoothie because of its delicious and sunny, exotic taste, and its potential health effects.
